January 19, 2015

hollywoodreporter.com

With only two episodes of the beloved Jason Katims NBC drama remaining, there are a number of storylines still up in the air — notably patriarch Zeek Braverman's (Craig T. Nelson) health.

"We have this story with Zeek that has anchored the season and will continue to as we move forward. But we also have all of these characters and their stories, and they're big stories that are happening as well," Katims tells The Hollywood Reporter. "What we wanted to do was continue to tell that story with Zeek but not have it overshadow what's happening with Sarah (Lauren Graham) and Hank (Ray Romano), what's happening with Joel (Sam Jaeger) and Julia (Erika Christensen), what's happening with the Luncheonette."

January 18, 2015

tvguide.com

The series finale, which airs Jan. 29, incorporates a Six Feet Under-style flash-forward, Christensen tells TVGuide.com. "I think it will be really satisfying and interesting, because it covers a lot of ground," she hints. "We go through three years, I think, of some more family developments. ... A lot can happen."

"The last scene that we all shot together as a family was brutal," Christensen admits. "Thankfully we didn't have a whole lot of talking to do, because we were bawling. ... Everyone was a mess, and we weren't done shooting. So there's even a shot that you might be able to catch some people crying."

"They flew me all the way from New York [to L.A.] to do a scene with Lauren [Graham] and it was such a good scene. I got to see [Amber's] baby and they had to cut it for time. I was super bummed."
