7.13 - I'd Rather Be In Philadelphia - (144)
Review by Craig Best (aka Lancer1993)

I'm keeping these shorter this time to about a page full but we'll see how it goes.

I liked this episode for the most part, nice balance of the girls, townies and others.

The scenes with Emily were outstanding and Lorelai was in my opinion on the verge of losing it a few times.

Chris was a total ass giving no reason for is actions and not wanting to talk to Lorelai, Luke was great, not wanting to interfere but wanting to help.

Logan was also the perfect boyfriend to Rory wanting to just be there.

Thanks to opposites-are-polar.net for the screen cap
The best part of the ep for me was probably Emily breaking down in the gift shop and Lorelai going from being mad to supportive in a matter of a few minutes.

I thought there would have been more Luke, in the end there was almost as much Chris as Luke, or that's how it felt to me. But the episode really showed Lorelai who she should have chosen all along and just reenforced the mistake she made in getting married, or even leavinf Luke in the first place.

I can now see how they were pushing the stuff about being the and ITA, Chris was an ass and just not there, I did feel the Luke stuff might have been toned down and it was weird that Emily would even let Luke into one of her cars let alone drive it without company. But I guess in Emily's world she has people do things all the time and having someone pick up the car is no big deal. I did like how she complained about the "incompetent" of other then wanting Luke back. To me it showed her trust in him.

I did like the running theme of fish and how Luke even bought so fish for them to eat and the clichés including the couple at the end.

Also the look Luke gave Chris was like "Who the f*** are you, were have you been all day!" and how Lorelai said couples doing things for each other like Luke and Lorelai have been of late.

I also liked that Zach was doing Lane's job, make sense and that Babette told Luke I just hope at some point someone steps in to tell them that the other is still in love with them. And Babette stuff in general was great and Paul Anka is alive, wow 2 weeks in a row!

Best lines
BABETTE: Ohh, you know who's a man of mystery? Morey. After decades in the bedroom, who would have thought that the idea of dressing up like a Howler monkey would be such a turn-on?

LUKE: I swear I didn't even know what I was doing. I just walked right out the diner and drove straight here. Now that I’m here I realize I might be in the way, but if there's anything I can do, I want to do it.

EMILY: There's nothing to yank. It's a jaguar, not a lawn mower.

Best scenes
Sad - Emily with Lorelai in the gift shop and also with Richard after the operation. Also the scene with Lorelai leaving messages for Chris, heart breaking.

Funny - Again Emily in full rant mode just after getting to the hospital and of course the duds scene, LOL
