7.05 - The Great Stink - (136)
Review by Craig Best (aka Lancer1993)

I'm keeping these shorter this time to about a page full but we'll see how it goes.

What can I say but I'm not completely being entertained by this show anymore, Lorelai has became this whining cry baby blaming Luke for all the problems of the last season, what happened to the first guy you really loved Lorelai?

I'm only watching now to see how many die in this train wreck that has become this once great show.

Thanks to opposites-are-polar.net for the screen cap
First the bad parts for the episode was again no Lane and Zach, no Liz and TJ, all the townies in one scene and very little Luke.

It seamed like a lot of the stuff said by was a bit childish, blaming Luke for not opening up when it was Lorelai who NEVER said a thing to Luke until Partings about how she felt about him keeping April out of her life or should that be their life. David S. Rosenthal was less that subtle with "Christopher is not Luke" from Lorelai and "adult-relationship thing worked" from Chris.

Okay there were some good parts, It's nice to see one of the girls grown up, taking to Logan about how she feels and yes Lorelai did the same after a while with Chris but at first she didn't and went into the same mode as she did with Luke late season.

Rory was understandably jealous when it came to Logan and Bobbi after his past and what happened last season, but it was great to see her admit it and they got pass it. Logan was great, coming back and giving Rory a big surprise but then the dinner mix up was not good but again predictable.

Lorelai held back for a few hours but maybe she has learnt from last season with Luke, she finally spoke up and they resolved to go to Paris together, like we didn't see that coming. Chris was good but maybe too good.

Emily and Richard were okay in this episode but who would have thought Richard plays tennis! Plus how much did they really love Luke if they now have what they have wanted for 22 years? I guess it was expected, and not really a shock coming from these two.

I also like the choice of music in the car "Who Will Save Your Soul", "Come on Feel The Noize", "Come a Little Bit Closer" and "18 And Life" great choices David.

Best lines
EMILY: Yes, but it looks ridiculous, like glorified ping-pong. If I wanted to play ping-pong, I would -- well, if I wanted to play ping-pong, I would kill myself.

Best scenes
Sad - Seeing Lorelai think Chris is the same as Luke, in the park when he told her he wants to send Gigi to Paris with the nanny.

Funny - Making fun of Emily's arrest with the pictures on the phone.

My Rating
6.5 out of 10
