7.01 - The Long Morrow - (132)
Review by Craig Best (aka Lancer1993)

I'm keeping these shorter this time to about a page full but we'll see how it goes.

Overall this episode was okay but not the best, Lauren's performance was off as was Alexis but I though Scott's was one of his best performances.

It was nice to see they did a "real" crash and not just show it after and have the car placed in the diner but using the pause button you can see the ramps used.

Thanks to opposites-are-polar.net for the screen cap
Okay I was surprised they didn't start with Lorelai but the Rory scene was nice, she must have gone back to sleep after Logan left but then the next scene with Lorelai and Chris doesn't follow so I don't know. The rocket was a nice touch and plays through the episode. Lorelai getting up and leaving was about the only scene that made sense to me for her, She left the clueless Chris which is a start but her day went down hill from there.

The Babette scene was funny but got old fast and Lorelai as you would expect was out of it, I have to wonder how soon before the town finds out what happened. Luke as you would expect gave Lorelai some time, just a pity in the last 6-8 hours she gave up and slept with Chris basically stuffing up any chance in her mind that Luke would ever want her again. Luke wants to talk but again is left there standing as Lorelai drives off

I was annoyed by the "me me me" attitude Lorelai had going in the kitchen that it was Luke's fault he didn't stop her, did she talk to the guy, no and she expects him to read her mind. I can understand Lorelai wanting out but she never gave Luke a real chance to change because he didn't know how she was feeling and then the Ultimatum, which never works. Lorelai needs to grow up and talk to people about her feelings. She told the whole town but not the one person who needed to know.

The Rory and Lorelai stuff was a bit weird, I know they do silly stuff but Lorelai has just ended a 2 year relationship with Luke and maybe wrecked a 10 year friendship and they go and play Racquetball ball? but in Gilmore girls style they spend most of the time stilling and talking btu about the rocket and not Luke. Don't like the ball hitting Lorelai in the eye though.

As always Paris is fun and was it me or was Paris the city mentioned like a million times? Love she has a busness to help pay for Yale since her parents are wanted but the IRS or something (I forget) and it get's Rory thinking about Logan. I wish she had more scenes.

A clueless Dopey Chris calling and the booty call line was so bad, at least Lorelai reconised how back it was with the "not 18 remark", I just hope it's over this time between them

As for Luke he's day just kept getting worse, complaining customers, Caeser and then Taylor puts in a Red Light camera in for the traffic lights which Luke is not liking a leads to Kirk driving a 64 Thunderbird (Taylor's) into the diner, Kirk hoping out "I'm okay" and a shattered Luke, The crash it's self was great to see (from an action point of view) but you can see some errors using the pause button. I guess it represends Luke life right now, all smashed up. Later Luke doesn't kno what to do and tells everyone to let him think.

Lorelai starts to De-Luke the house and ends up with the house almost empty, she even takes the sheets of the bed. Logan calls Rory to let her know he's in London, thay talk and while Rory wants to see him, her has plans for Christmas so says nothing. He explains about the rocket and she is pleased at the meaning. By the way Logan has the same cell phone as me. Rory tells Lorelai about the rocket and is happy

And the next morning we have the final scenes with Luke and Lorelai, Luke comes over and the truck is packed he wants to marry Lorelai, elope and do what ever she wants, Lorelai tries to stop him but he keeps going on about how the diner is wrecked but he doesn't care and nothing matters if she is not with him. Finally Lorelai tells Luke she slept with Chris and there is silence, Luke gets in his truck and leaves.

Best lines
LUKE: It's like it's not even real to me. It's like my life isn't even real to me unless you're there, and you're in it, and I'm sharing it with you.

Best scenes
Sad - Luke and Lorelai final scene

Funny - Kirk "I'm okay" after crashing into the diner.
