Scott Gordon Patterson

  • NEW - Scott is working on several things including a comedy feature script and waiting on news about a half hour comedy pilot from a major cable network. Lea Gaines@FanForum

  • tvguide.com - I just got the unofficial official word that one of this season's best new comedies, Aliens in America, has been axed. Despite rave reviews when it debuted last fall, the CW laffer went largely ignored by viewers. Which sucks for them, because they missed out on a fantastic little show. - razzlephrat@FanForum

  • A message from Scott: Been home two weeks and have not had a chance to slow down with all the TV meetings. I haven't found that perfect thing yet, but you will be the first to know when I do. Some excellent pilots being shot. Very impressed with the quality out there, though may want to take a break from series television. - Lots more here thanks to Lea Gaines@FanForum

  • "Luke's" is no more - picture from the backlot thanks to razzlephrat@FanForum

  • Kristen E Online - Casting sources connected to some other show (does it really matter which one?) have informed me that Scott Patterson is now being classified as "available for a new project next season." SPA@FanForum

  • TV Guide - Aliens in America is not looking good for renewal and now Adhir Kalyan the shows costar will have a recurring role on FX's Nip/Tuck. This might not be all bad since both shows have very different shooting schedules so if Aliens gets a second season they he could do both.

  • tvguide.com Ausiello - I've compiled a list of those shows currently hanging in the balance followed by my own assessment of their chances and, mixing buzz and intel, an Odds of Survival rating of 0-10 (0 being dead and 10 being a shoo-in for resurrection).
    Aliens in America
The bad news: The ratings suck.
The good news: The show doesn't. It's really funny. And smart. And the CW knows it.
    Odds of Survival: 3 - SPA@FanForum

  • tvguide.com - Matt Roush: If you can find a watercooler where they're discussing Aliens in America, let me (or more importantly, the CW) know. The show was struggling on Mondays and is now dying on Sundays...more at SPA@FanForum

  • tv.ign.com - Very interesting interview with Scott, he compares Luke and Gary " I think Luke would probably see Gary as kind of a putz. But the thing is, I also saw Gary as the guy Luke would become in 10 years or 15 years." - copperboom@FanForum

  • efluxmedia.com - Doesn't look as though Aliens in America will be renewed. BarkMyer@FanForum

  • Aliens in America - tvguide.com - Eight pre-strike episodes remain. No additional episodes expected for this season. - SPA@FanForum

  • Saw 5 filming starts March 17th - ign.com - IGN has confirmed that Saw IV cast members Tobin Bell, Scott Patterson, and Costas Mandylor will return for the Lionsgate franchise's fifth installment, which will be directed by the series' former production designer David Hackl. Bell plays the franchise's central character Jigsaw, while Patterson and Mandylor play FBI Agent Strahm and police detective Hoffman, respectively. Patterson made his franchise debut in Saw IV, while Mandylor joined in Saw III. The three actors' return was first rumored in a January 24th posting at ProductionCharts.com, which also claims Saw V will shoot in Toronto from May 17 to June 22. Bloody-Disgusting.com reports today that it, too, has heard that Bell, Patterson and Mandylor might be back for Saw V. IGN has confirmed that filming actually begins March 17 and not May 17, as ProductionCharts.com claims. Saw V is slated for release October 24, 2008. - damselfly@FanForum

  • Aliens in America - thefutoncritic.com - is now due back on Sunday February 10th at 8:30 pm on the CW, it originally aired on Monday nights since the series started but has moved along with a number of other shows as a result of the writers strike.

  • SAW4 audio of the cast but with some references to Gilmore Girls MP3
In addition to his comments, you can hear Scott laughing frequently in the background. This includes Darren telling the Fresca story (I construed the joke to mean - give the woman diet soda allnight long + don't let her go to the "ladies room"........) Darren also says that the funniest outtakes reel would be the one with Scott's improvs. Scott's was asked about GG and before talking about the freedom of SAW IV vs. 7 years of GG, he said (paraphrased!) Saw was a horror during filming/lots of fun the rest of the time; GG was the other way around (meaning: fun during filming and a horror the rest of the time!!!) [Though he doesn't say so, I'm assuming/hoping he's referring primarily to S7.] Also, one of the producers, Mark Burg, said (also para.) "it [GG]sounds like the inmates were running the asylum." [Then, to Scott] "Is that safe to say?" Scott laughs/answers "Yes" followed quickly by a cheerful "You can say anything you want!" link

  • PRANKS RIFE ON SAW IV SET - contactmusic.com - SAW IV director DARREN LYNN BOUSMAN fears his cast's pranks on the set of the horror film are too extreme to ever air - even as a DVD extra. The filmmaker admits the intensity of the film's torture scenes was matched by the extremes actors would go to to get a laugh between takes. And Bousman admits one star, Scott Patterson, who plays Agent Strahm in the new sequel, went further than most. He says, "The interrogation scenes with Scott were bizarre. I let him run with them but I couldn't put a lot of what he said in the movie because they were just so outrageous. "He would do these interrogation room scenes and say the most obnoxious things to Jill (actress Betsy Russell); he'd say `Listen hear bitch, I have an entire case of Fresca (caffeine-heavy soft drink) outside and we can go all f**kin' night,' or my favourite one: `They will take you to prison and make you their bitch and you will have woman love like you've never experienced.'" But Patterson was at the other end of one painful prank, when the movie's villain, Jigsaw, came back from the dead and grabbed him by the balls. He recalls, "I have one scene with Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) and it's a very serious scene; I have to come up to a slab that he's lying on and I come in with weapon drawn and he cupped me from underneath the sheet. "This is a very serious moment fraught with tension and suspense and there's just blood everywhere and I am looking around this room horrified and he just goes, `Bam' right in the nuts. It was a high-pitched moment."

  • Regarding a GG reunion movie - yousendit.com - transcript by gjoni
SP: "Well, I've been contacted by a number of sources. I can't reveal too many and I don't want to start any rumors, but they asked me if I would be interested in doing a reunion movie and I said you know, look, Amy Sherman Palladino's writing it, I'd do the phone book for her, so."
Q: "When the change of writers came on the show, how did you feel about that really?"
SP: "Well, look, Amy left and it wasn't under the best of circumstances. There was a battle between her and the studio and also her husband, 'cause they were the writing team. It was, really sad to see them go. I thought that was, that was writing the show's epitaph right there. I figured they're gone, Amy is the voice of the show, you just, and it's such a unique voice that you're not going to be able to replace it because, (they) had some very talented writers come in and they just, you know, it's very difficult to be that specific with with the voice of each character so it kind of sealed its fate."
Q: "I'm going to interpret what you just said – you weren't very happy about it."
SP: "Well, she, Amy was the one who gave us our break in Hollywood and she created that show, she was the energy behind that show, she's the brains behind that show. You just can't replace that. It's, it's irreplaceable. So I think (sighs) boy, if they had to do it all over again, I think they might have tried to work out a better deal with her. "
Q: "Do you feel the show implied that you and Lorelai did end up together in the finale? How do you feel about that?"
SP: "I think they tried I don't think (laughing) they did very well. (Still laughing) They can imply all they want, but you know, the fans want what the fans want. They waited around for all those years and they just, they got this little pop in the end where you know they sort of kissed each other and …." - BarkMyer@FanForum

  • Interesting interview (text - podcast) with Scott Patterson
    Q) Do you keep in touch with your "Gilmore" cast members?
    A) I do not. Everyone is scattered to the four winds. I am up in Canada. We connect by text, but that show ended badly. That is not how a show should have ended. It ended bitterly and it ended badly. No one got to say goodbye and there was no party. It was a real waste having to end a show that way. That's the way things happen sometimes. It's unfortunate, but inevitable.
    Q) Will there be a "Gilmore Girls" movie?
    A) It would depend on the script. It would depend on Amy Sherman-Palladino's involvement. I've been quoted as saying, "Not only would I hide a body for, but I'd chop one up." - SPA@FanForum.com

  • 2007 CW Fall Preview - Aliens in America "Chances of Survival:Slim. Too many chances for people to get all uppity about the whole Muslim sitcom thing and there are far too many better shows at the same time for this to make it. The critics have been generous, but the iF staff was a bit perplexed at what the show was striving to be (a comedy, a drama, political commentary), and if we're "confused" then how will Middle Amercia handle it."

  • CW previews 'Aliens' for Muslims - "We're not going out of our way to do it, but we'll naturally have some stories that touch upon (issues)," David Guarascio - pinkpaisley@FanForum

  • Scott had a few things to say about SAW4 - The Saw movies are so tightly structured to set up all their plot twists, it does not seem like there would be any room for improvisation. But actor Scott Patterson, who joins the franchise in Saw IV, gave the filmmakers some of his own material to work with.
"You improvise before the meat of the scene begins and at the end of it," said Patterson. "So if they don't like any of it, [they can delete it]. I didn't mess with the text as written, but in the beginning if they wanted a little preamble and at the end I put a button on it."
Patterson plays an FBI agent on the trail of Jigsaw. After his long stint on television, improvisation was one of the many freedoms he enjoyed on Saw IV. "Coming from a very regimented structured environment that Gilmore Girls was and walking onto that set and just being able to stretch your muscles, it was a great experience."
He had nice things to say about actor Tobin Bell too, revealing just how close his agent gets to Jigsaw. "I had one scene with him. I can't really tell you about it but he's a terrific guy. He's a really dedicated actor and a terrific human being. And a pretty good singer/songwriter."

  • playbackmag.com - U.S. net The CW has commissioned the first 13 episodes of fish-out-of-the-subcontinent series Aliens in America, a comedy about a Pakistani teen who moves in with a white-bread Wisconsin family. Produced by CBS Paramount Network Television and Warner Bros. Television, the program went to camera in Vancouver on July 30 with a wrap date of Oct. 25. Perhaps owing to the fact that studios in Vancouver are booked with other series, Aliens began shooting in a former Chrysler dealership. Echoing the culture clash storyline of Little Mosque on the Prairie, the series tells the story of an outsider teen (Dan Byrd of The Hills Have Eyes) whose mother enlists him in his school's international exchange program to find him a cool foreigner friend. Much to their initial consternation, they get a devout, quiet and nerdy Islamic teen (Adhir Kalyan from Fair City). The two unlikely teens form a friendship that helps them navigate the treacherous waters of high school. Amy Pietz (Caroline in the City), Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls) and Lindsey Shaw (Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide) costar. The L.A.-made pilot was reshot in Vancouver following some cast changes.
The series comes with an impressive pedigree, including executive producers Tim Doyle (Jake in Progress), Moses Port and David Guarascio (both of Just Shoot Me), and co-executive producers Richard Day (Arrested Development) and Michael Glouberman (Malcolm in the Middle). The series will debut in the U.S. Oct. 1, airing on Monday nights after Everybody Hates Chris. - hellojojo123@FanForum

  • I haven't been able find out much more of what is going on with SP (and believe me I have tried). My Friends reminds me that since SP has to move to Vancouver for the next few months, he is probably too busy for much else. I have been able to learn that the reshoots for the AiA pilot are scheduled for the 26th and the 27th with the principle photography beginning on the 30th. - SassyPaws@FanForum

  • The fall TV season: taking a first look By Gail Pennington 07/09/2007 5:23 pm - I spent much of the holiday weekend, if you can call it that, watching the networks’ fall pilots. I’m not allowed to officially “review” them at this point, because many of them are still rough and others seem likely to be completely reshot. But so far, my impression is: not so bad; not great. I liked the CW’s “Aliens in America” (a half-hour comedy, no laugh track and very charming) quite a bit, ... - gjoni@FanForum

  • globeandmail.com - " It didn't take long for ex-Gilmore Girls hunk Scott Patterson to find work. The rugged actor who played Luke on the long-running series has signed up for a full-time role on Aliens in America, which makes it debut on The CW this fall. The new series focuses on an American family who agrees to take in a foreign-exchange student - a decision they regret when their new house guest turns out to be a Muslim. Patterson will play the father of the clan, and replaces Patrick Breen in the role." - hellojojo123@FanForum

  • Scott is up for a lead roll in REPO: The Genetic Opera but producers are resiting casting him and was some othe BIG name. Darren Lynn Bousman (the director for both SAW and REPO) and Liana Cohen (his agent) are fighting to keep Scott but need support. The reason that they are against him is because they don’t feel he is a big enough name to pre-sale the movie overseas. They want someone like Kevin Costner or Kevin Bacon!
